Covid.. covid.. covid !! Its all we talk about, hear and even see these days, be it in the news channels, while talking to friends or relatives. There is suffering all around ! People are in urgent need of oxygen, people are dying ! The whole world seems to be slowly converting into one big cemetery....
Its depressing to hear all this.. But have you ever thought about those who are loosing their loved ones in this process? Begging someone to save their loved ones lives ! That pain of loosing your near and dear ones is unimaginable !!
Yet, there are some "specimens" who feel it more important, and a matter of thrill to go out and roam around, saying "we have a strong immunity, nothing will happen to us !" or "covid is a myth". All I can say is, consider yourself extremely lucky that you are still alive !! Otherwise... you wont even know where you might be and in what state.
Just remember, you might not be effected, or you might just be Asymptomatic, but all thanks to your unnecessary urge to go outdoors and show off how strong you are, how many families you might have destroyed ! Now that's a SHAME ! It's DISGUSTING !
Coming to those who are staying at home as much as possible and stepping out only when there is something really necessary, THANK YOU ! You are doing your bit ! You are amazing and strong ! Please continue to do so.. Stay safe, and keep others safe too !
Being one of those who has stayed at home all this while, I know how frustrating and irritating it can get. It feels like its never ever going to end, and that thought scares us even more ! Our mental health is what is extremely important during this time. There are a lot of things you can do to stay positive and keep yourselves busy. These are things I have been doing, and it gives me immense happiness and peace.
Walks- Now, walks need not necessarily mean outdoors, on a track or park. You could just go to the terrace and walk or stroll listening to your favorite music or songs, and get your doze of Vitamin D while doing so. Or if you have a treadmill, you could just have a good workout right there ! Walks will keep your joints healthy and moving.
Exercises- A good set of on spot jumping or running, skipping, stretches, etc are easily possible in your house. Just by spending 30 minutes a day doing exercises, can keep you active for the whole day ! This will keep you fit, active and healthy, feeling happy and positive.
Dance- Obviously my favorite ! I am a dancer and choreographer ! But even if you are not, or you are shy, just go to your bedroom, switch on some music of your choice, and let your body move however it wants to. Don't think how beautiful or ugly you look. Just go for it ! Dancing releases positivity or happy hormones into your body, which will give you strength to deal with the situation we all are in currently. Mark my words, "Dance is magic !!". It does wonders to the body and mind..
Gardening- Well, so what if we cant go and relax in natures lap. We can create it at home ! Try to plant some easy vegetables in small little pots at home, or even try growing indoor plants which are low maintenance and easy to grow. Now that we are at home, we can actually watch them grow a little more every single day. Watching these plants grow from delicate and weak little things, to beautiful healthy strong plants, will definitely give you hopes, that things will get better. Life is still worth living !
DIY's- This is something you can try with the most basic things available at home, or if not, easily available on any online store. Trying to decorate glass bottles with jute, or diya's out of old CD's, making something from old and useless stuff at home. Its more like a 'reuse- recycle' idea. Its a good time to give your house a new look. Watching your own creativity which has made your house so beautiful, you won't mind happily staying home !
Cooking- Try your hands on some new dish you saw online or heard from your family or friends. Need not be a full fledged meal, it can just be a dessert, or if you eat healthy, may be even just a salad ! Experiments are fun !
Family time- I think this is one of the most important of all. On regular days, before covid, we barely would get time to sit down with our families and speak. But now, its important to take out some time during the day and speak to them. May be even play some board games ! So many times, our families can bring all our childhood memories back ! That will definitely make you take a step back from this constant race of life we are all in ! Trust me, its not worth it ! Your family is the one constant source of love and support you will always have. Don't take it for granted. Cherish every moment.
There are lot of things to do, if you really want to do, rather than being stuck in front of the TV, mobile or just being a workaholic. In my terms "a corporate slave !"
Enjoy the little things life has to offer. Value your family and loved ones. You never know what tomorrow holds... Keep your mind and body at peace..
