All about Dance!

Dance is all around us. Anything & everything we do, from standing, walking, talking, eating, etc; has movement, & that movement when put in a more stylized way, is called Dance! These movements, when set to a particular rhythm, structure & design is called a Dance Choreography.

Dance has always served as an irreplaceable way of expressing human thought & emotion, & dates back to as far as 1.5 million years ago. The earliest findings have pinpointed the origins of ancient dances in 9,000 years old India or 5,300 years old Egypt, but the records of modern dance culture can be found in ancient Greece, China & India.

Dance was a way of people socializing or interacting with each other in the earlier times. It was also a way of pleasing the gods. Early humans might have danced to attract a mate, or for celebrations, festivals, seasonal occasions such as crop harvest, birth or weddings, rituals, entertainment, etc. Such dances are found all over the world. The evidence of the existence of dance can be found in the walls of caves, paintings, sculptures, & literature as well.

In the recent times, it has been proven by the neuroscientists that dance works as a healer! It not only helps to gain better concentration & positivity in a human being, but also helps out those, who are dealing with depression, stress, traumatic encounters, etc. Dance has now become a medicine as it involves complete involvement of one’s own body, the energy it has & awareness of how vulnerable we are!

Dance is one of the ways we try to spread the feeling of love, peace & friendship with the hope of a better tomorrow & a better place to live in for the generations to come...
